Yes, right there with you due to the need for flexibility. Agree with pp, take a course, volunteer, get a certification - anything that can add to your resume and keep your skills from getting rusty.

I was in a very similar position for three years. I counted my blessings in terms of flexibility, and I tried to find new projects/skills to develop within the scope of my job. Basically, I used the time to improve my resume so that I could find a better job.
And when my old job got unbearable, I started looking, and found something else, that paid market value, and was just as flexible.

Subject: How to maintain motivation when stuck in job for interim period
Hi all,
I find myself having to monitor myself at work as I can do this job in my sleep and am sometimes tempted to. It makes sense for now as I'm raising young children, but it pays half my market value and I'd walk away tomorrow if I didn't need the generous flexibility. I still want to be a good worker and give my employer what they've paid for. Are any of you in a similar position? What do you do to keep your mojo going when the job is no longer inspiring?
