It sucks but I personally would just wait a month until decisions are made. You can't change what is in the packet.

I'm just not that encouraged by the sub teacher who literally wrote 1 sentence more or less '[child's name] is doing a great job' on the recent report card, unless that's normal for around here. I asked my child's teacher (a sub) for the packet and was refereed to the AART. Should I just ask that person for the packet and scores? Thanks in advance--new to this all. My child was automatically refereed to pool.

DS had scores all at 99% and gbrs of 16. I didn't lift a finger. He was in.

I expect DS to get in with being in pool and having a GBRS of 13. Commentary was very positive. Work samples were fine, nothing spectacular.

I would think your child being in pool and a GBRS of 16 should definitely get in.

I think with high GBRS and in pool scores your child is in. If not, appeal with new work samples and no WISC and your DC will get in. On appeals they'll look at other kids with similar profiles that got in to see if they were justified excluding your kids. They err on the side in inclusion.

I personally would not worry. I feel some schools may generally write more or less in the GBRS commentary.

I would generally think high GBRS + in-pool = IN

That being said, there is a huge difference between a kid who has a GBRS 12, is not advanced in language arts or math, gets middling grades, and has poor work samples, and a kid who has the same GBRS, is advanced in math and language arts, has excellent grades, and great work samples.

And there is also a huge difference between a kid who is in-pool from only the NNAT or one section of the cogat with low scores on the other sections, and a kid who is in-pool with higher scores all around.

How high?

Does this usually mean the child will get in to Level IV? That would make sense to me. The school is essentially recommending it, and the student's assessment scores put them in-pool. The GBRS, I would think, have more weight to help someone in or not if the scores aren't in-pool. Any thoughts?
