This. Exactly. I think daycare works out to about $15k pretax income so maybe closer to $185k woukd be comparable.

$200k. Our combined income right now is about $150k, but if DH were home full time I would need to bring home more. He is expensive when he has time

I made about $200k/yr until I quit a few months ago. I would have been very happy for my husband to stay at home with that money. I actually really like my job when I can work full time and not be stressed about picking up kids at daycare or relieving the nanny. He doesn't like being at home though. I am not sure there is any amount of money that could make him quit. Maybe multiple millions.

$0, but we have a nest egg of $4.5m and can live off that indefinitely. We both like our jobs luckily, and he probably won't quit. But if he finds himself out of work I hope he'll take a nice long break. He'll need to find a time consuming hobby if he leaves. I'm afraid he'd sit around in his underwear and play video games all day otherwise.

Speaking for DW because she's currently grocery shopping, I'm guessing financially she'd be fine with me staying home (instead of her) if she made 120k instead of me. However, the reason she stays home instead of me is because she hated her job a lot more than I hate mine (I actually love parts of mine, even though there are plenty of parts I don't).

200k, our combined income. I think of ours as a pretty equal household, but DH would have to get way better at cleaning in order to stay home. I currently do 100% of the cleaning (he cooks) but would expect the house cleaned if he stayed home. I think it would be isolating for him too because so my mom's group is all SAHMs. No dads groups.

I honestly would never want him to quit. I would hate to feel boxed in as the primary bread winner, no matter how much I made. I love having the flexibility of knowing that one day down the road I could quit and do my own thing. Sorry, DH!

Well we live fairly comfortably right now and are paying 2k a month for daycare. So I would be comfortable-ish if I was making 250k which is roughly our combined income. If he took over childcare in this scenario we would be doing significantly better than we're doing now as that would be regaining about 20% of our take home pay per month.
