We need a budget! I would buy as close as you can reasonably afford to where you teach now, to minimize your commute.

Where do you teach? Are we talking Bethesda, Kensington, Silver Spring? Silver Spring springs to mind as a good option for finding a place to live.

If you're happy with the area you are currently in other than school, MCPS employees who live outside of the district can enroll their children in a MCPS school at half of the tuition rate. I think the full tuition rate is about $12k.
