I complained about being 42, and my doctor told me I was young, hah! (and that was more than a year ago.)

It's just dumb small talk.

I'm at Cornell too. The ladies there are definitely older than those at SG (where I started my journey).

+1. They see lots of women older than you. That's all.

You are relatively young for a fertility clinic. When we were going we saw a lot of 40+ ( like us) . The age range is typically about 35-45 so you are 9n the younger side. While there are a few in the 30-35 range (like pp) they are much less common in clinics. Most at that age are still trying at home.

Strange. I would hear people confirm their DOB when being called back and they were MUCH younger than OP (except me).

The odds that this is the person with 2 kids and good lab results trying for #3 - pretty high.

Once you get pregnant-everyone will be constantly referring to your advanced maternal age. Enjoy being called young while it lasts!

Same age and birthday, OP, and they kept telling me the same. I learned to ignore it. It's not true except in the sense that you have a number of years to keep trying (as opposed to if you were already 42 or something). And since I already had one kid, it was hardly reassuring to watch the age gap get bigger and bigger.

You are young, generally speaking. You are not young fertility-wise though! Unless that clinic sees mostly the 40 and over crowd.

Perhaps you look younger than your age.
Even for medical interventions where age is important, your appearance trumps everything.

No. They are just trying to be nice. I was 31 and on the young side at my clinic, but not by much. I used donor eggs and I thought I would be the youngest person in my online support group. But, I was middle of the pack even with donor eggs. I number of the women had lost their ovaries young to ovarian cancer or had other non-age related reasons they couldn't conceive. It's only on DCUM that it is assumed that age is the only reason people have fertility problems. In the real world, a majority of fertility patients are younger than 35 because more women in this age group are trying to have babies.
