There is a Hyatt Place on Rio Rd, I think. It's new and very comfortable for families.
You should look up spring sports schedules at UVA. You could see a good game - UVa's baseball team is usually good, for example.
UVA and the downtown mall are very kid-friendly. Lots of good restaurants that are decent for kids.

Second the Frontier Culture Museum. I went in October (sans kids) and it was really interesting. Would be a great family outing.

The UVA campus is really great for kids, plenty of space to run around.

There is an Omni on The Downtown Mall and the new Marriott directly across the street.
The walking trail to Monticello is nice (Saunders Trail)
There's a small kids discovery museum on the downtown mall.
If you come mid to late April the free Friday concerts at Sprint Pavilion (also on Downtown Mall) will be occurring.
The vast majority of wineries and breweries are kid friendly
Carter Mountain Orchard opens on March 31st

We haven't been with kids, but my husband and I went a few months ago and there is a new Residence Inn right near the pedestrian mall. It would be perfect with kids because the rooms are large.

Thinking about doing a trip there this spring. I've never been. I saw there anything in particular that might appeal to the kids, 6 and 3? I've heard that the pedestrian mall is a good place to stay. Any good (with kids) breakfast, lunch, dinner restaurants?
