Those guidelines are new this year, and it will be interesting to see how many schools adhere strictly to them. For several years one well known school in DC has mailed a day before the others, despite saying they would mail on the same day.

AISGW's idea is a good one, but I don't believe there is any enforcement mechanism, so I'm hopeful schools will comply this year of their own volition.

The guidelines say, "to the extent practicable, electronic notification, which includes email, telephone, on-line portal or any other form of instant notification, shall occur no earlier than 5 pm; letters may be placed in the U.S. mail so as to be received on the first Friday in March." So, any school can decide it is not "practicable" not to call in advance because of tradition (or something like that). Also, depending on when your mail comes, you might know pretty early in the day on Friday through the good ol' USPS.

Are you saying that because your DC received one? Which school?

Many schools do sibling/faculty/staff decisions earlier because they need commitment forms back to know how many spots for general applicant pool. I have no idea how many do this, but there are at least some with contracts due back this week, so I assume they got their decisions last week or earlier.

I've heard that there is a greater effort to standardize notifications this year, with 5:00 pm Friday March 3 being the common target.

Sorry PP, don't know about NCS/Albans or Maret, didn't apply. That should cover top schools I believe.

Holton calls in advance usually. Rejects/Waitlist via email later.

Sidwell, I understand to be same time.

GDS, same time (last year it was like 8 AM while other schools were at Midnight)

Madeira, same time.

Potomac, same time.

Do any schools send out admissions decisions at different times, or do they all go out in one big batch, regardless of whether you get in or not?
