wow - this makes total sense.

it's affecting OS as well. My dad had to re-adjust the settings on windows 10 to bold everything because the fonts were so light.

I had to go to daily contacts and try to wear glasses more often.

Yes, get a prescription for computer glasses.

I've always found, working in publishing, that it's easier for me to read and see details on paper than it is on a screen.

This used to happen to me a lot, and I got a prescription for computer specific glasses. They help a lot.

This is a topic near/dear to me since I have 5 kids AND I work with Treehouse Eyes here in DC metro area. Screen fatigue can be a drag for us adults, but there's an even bigger problem for too much screentime (and the related not enough outdoor time) for our growing kids.

There are actually studies that show that you remember less of what you read online. It's probably better to print out anything you really want to retain anyway.

Also, my eye doc gave me really low-prescrip peepers for reading on the computer. Helped a lot. I've also needed glasses since I was a kid.

38. No glasses. In grad school and haaaate the amount of reading I do on the computer. I like to scan back and forth to see charts and tables and to reread parts. So much harder on a screen.

OP here, i've worn glasses since 2nd grade. will be going to the opthamologist next month.

it's a combo of my eyes getting uncomfortable and not being able to focus mentally while looking

print it on paper, and i can zoom through whatever i have to read pretty quickly.

I'm 43 and started having issues, issues with focusing in general, turns out my prescription wasn't strong enough anymore and I needed bifocals to boot. Consider getting your eyes checked. I didn't wear glasses until my late twenties.

I'm 38 and don't have any issues. Not sure if it is normal, I'd make an eye appointment or at least mention it at your next check-up.

Why exactly can't you read it?

I've always hated reading on a screen, and I can't adjust the lighting on my computer any lower. But if I have to, I do, all day.

I go through phases. But I just got new glasses and it's really helped with eye strain.

Almost turning 32, I can't seem to effectively read anything more than 2 or 3 paragraphs on the computer/ipad/phone anymore. If it is longer than a page, I need to print it out. Has anyone else gotten this way? I worry if it gets worse, it's going to really affect my ability to work.
