I don't get that at all. Why ask him to hide something you both enjoy? Isn't that hypocritical? Wouldn't it be better to find some songs you can both enjoy together? Not every rap song is vulgar/misogynistic/racially insensitive. Then you can discuss why some songs are more or less appropriate than others and the concept of artistic license and how you can enjoy art even if you don't agree with all parts of it.

I never hear his except for that he occasionally plays stuff in the car. But today I found a playlist called "Carpool Rap" which he plays in the car with his classmates on the way to school. OMG the language and constant use of the N word was shocking, but I have to admit I enjoyed listening to it during my workout today. I would never admit this to him. But if my husband ever knew he was listing to this stuff, he would hit the roof.
I am not going to even say anything to him about it. He's a good kid, gets good grades, stays out of trouble. He doesn't drink or do drugs (well he really doesn't have much time for any of that with his full schedule). So I will let this one slide.
How about you? Do you tolerate your kids' inappropriate music?
Wait, NAPSTER still exists!?
This was totally my reaction too! Spotify, Amazon Prime, Pandora? Sure. But Napster?!?
