My brother is built that way, as a veryyyy small adult. The cut for shirts you need is called "athletic fit". I think he has the best luck shopping at Macy's.

Try Levis for jeans b/c it goes by measurements (and not just the cut--slim, husky, etc.). I think there's a store in Tysons.

Sometimes Lord and Taylor has separates that fit.

I also just got my son a real suit at Joseph A Banks that was a men's suit cut down to fit him - it was expensive to tailor but it looks good.

Nordstroms also has up to size 20 and they will tailor the pants down to fit smaller kids that need larger waist.

Tailoring is a great idea and really the only way to get a proper fit.

Try H&M online for casual stuff. They have a wider range of sizes than most places I've found.

how about your son's thighs - our DS is thick more in the hip/thigh area. Feel like the rest of his legs are swallowed to accommodate the upper portion

good idea on L and T

thank you

Our 13 y.o. DS has not yet hit puberty at full throttle - and could be a while. He is on short side and we can't find dress clothes for him. He is too slim for a husky, yet nearly all the regular sizes are tailored for slim fit and do not work for him, even when I bump him up a size. He is frustrated and I DK what to do. Any brands, stores folks can recommend? don't think tailoring will work here.
