It would be 2 adults 2 kids (ages 5 and 7) and an infant. Infant would sleep in crib or pack n play.

That's an aberration.

I worked at the front desk of a hotel in college and honestly never thought or cared about how many people checked in. In any case, it's impossible to know whether all the people are guests, or if they're friends, family, etc. 99% of front desk people do not care and will not say anything. That woman must have had some sort of complex.

(All other rooms in hotel booked, as was their sister property.). She relented only after I said I would just sleep in the car and let the rest of the family have the room.

we do this all the time. My youngest is now 2.5. I bring a little sleeping bag/nap mat for her and she sleeps on the floor. My two boys share a bed. I can't imagine getting 2 rooms when my kids are still so young! That would be a total hassle and also expensive. We travel a lot and this arrangement works fine. It's cozy!

I remember many fond family vacations where the six of us would be in one hotel room with our parents, sleeping bags laid out on the floor. We would often wait in the car while my dad checked in and then went in through a side entrance. There will be posters who will go off about the immorality of this, but it created tons great memories as a child of family vacations, and I didn't grow up to believe in playing the system or lacking a sense of right and wrong.


I remember sleeping in the tub at the hotel once .

Did this all the time when our 3rd was young. We brought a pack n play. We never had an issue.

We do 3 kids in a room that officially accommodates 4 when we are doing a long drive and just doing a stop overnight.

When we are in a location for a few days, we typically do a room that accommodates 5 b/c the other rooms are too small and it is not a vacation.

This sounds fine, OP. In my limited experience, an infant doesn't really count even if you're ordering a crib in the room. It also sounds fun to me!

Why do t they give you a cot??

I had two siblings. My sister and I one bed. Parents the other andmy brother in the rollaway cot the hotels always provided.

I just have 2 kids so don't know.
