From past admittances, I'm not convinced it's a random lottery.
There just wouldn't be that many PTA Presidents kids, siblings and big elementary school donors every year. There is no sibling preference (except twins) and I know a helluva lot of siblings that attend.

Doesn't every elementary school a certain number every school a predetermined amount of slots?

Been my experience as well. Meanwhile Swanson, Williamsburg, Wakefield, Yorktown and WL continue to grow more and more overcrowded while somehow HB is allowed to maintain it's small size. I know, I know, HB has very generously increased their enrollment so that they can share our pain. Give me a break.
My husband and I discussed this and are thinking of taking legal action. If one more f*ckin big donor from our elementary school gets in this year---then I know they bought their way in and the elementary school principal pulled strings (which I have suspected all along). Really? There is no way that is a "random" student body.
