I used the banana clips for DD. I know people who use those tiny rubber hairbands. We used the hairbands a couple of times, but my DD liked the clip better (curly hair so it didn't fall out and she didn't fool with it).

I've tried the snap style clips and they come right out.

But the no ouch hair bands I've found to be the most effective, by far. The only thing I can get to stay in most (if not all) of the day. If you don't like the Cindy Loo Hoo spout style, then go for more the 80s look where you sweep the hair in the front to one side and rubber band it there. At this age, it's more about function than looks. It'll grow longer soon enough so you can do a style you prefer.

Why would you all cut it? The baby is growing it out so that it can be in a pony tale later.

I personally hate hangs and I think they're more trouble later down the road. They always look messy and will need cut often.

I bought a few dozen 3" bow clips from Cute Bows 4 Girls on Etsy, they stay in pretty well with the non-slip coating and are large enough not to be choking hazard if she does pull them out (although not so large as to look like they're swallowing her head). Her hair parts on the left so I just use one clip and pull it back on the opposite side.

My baby has long hair as well and we use hair clips mostly. Sometimes hair bands.

We had to use ponytails because she got every clip ou.

No slippy hair clippy. Expensive, but they work. I didn't want to go the bangs route.

Bangs or just keep pushing it to the side. I parted my baby's hair in the middle, tucked it back regularly, and eventually trained it to go that way.

What about a quick bang trim? That seems easier than trying to keep a clip in her hair.

My 9 month old has long hair (for a baby) and it's always in her eyes. Is there such a thing as a safe barrette or clip that isn't a choking hazard? I don't really want to do the spiky ponytail, but I can if I have to. Haven't had success with headbands staying on.
