If it's out of state, tell them you're not allowed to leave the current state.

Just tell them you won't.

I didn't go to my brothers "wedding." It was his second. I spent a lot of money and time going to his first (in Europe, where his first wife was from.)

For the second marriage, he went snowboardingin Tahoe with a woman he had been dating a few months, and they decided to go to Reno and get married. 7 months later they wanted a "real wedding" ceremony and reception. They live in California and I live in Virginia, I didn't fly out for it. They divorced three years later.

Being days away from delivering a baby, being in labor or recovering from childbirth on event day would do it.

Sleep with the fiancé
Say you were abducted
Tell them your dog is sick
Get married or remarried on the same day

Agreed on skipping the heart transplant as a valid option.

OP the bedrest/hospital pp is the only option I see unless you want to cut off ties.

Just tell them you have severe anxiety disorder and you don't want to have an attack and ruin their special day. Not joking.

First, why don't you want to be in it or attend?

Recovering from donating a kidney or part of your liver. Clearly it can not be a heart transplant.

Being in the hospital - or being on bedrest. Other than that, you are there.

Tell them you've been struggling with explosive diarrhea issues that you're afraid might escalate. You can't travel nor can you be trusted not to soil a fancy ugly dress.
