I hear wonderful things about Dear Evan Hanson, and the lead is from Pitch Perfect. The topic is suicide though, so it depends on the sensitivity of your teens.

I remember seeing this as a teenager 20 years ago and I loved Miss Saigon. Hoping to go see it on Broadway when it opens soon.
Wicked is the other favorite of my kids.

+1 Dear Evan Hansen. I saw it when it was at Arena Stage a couple years ago. Audience was full of tweens and teens.

I took my nieces to see Miss Saigon when they were about your kids' ages and we all loved it. I also think Wicked and School of Rock are good options. I've heard Matilda is good, but haven't seen it.
