Im looking at Walls Wilson and Banneker. I know Wilson is almost impossible to get into. The principal at Walls concerns me a bit. However, the curriculum at Walls seems more rigorous and a very good preparation for college.

Please look at the correlation between SES AND SAT scores. SAT scores are largely a reflection of parental education and income, not the quality of the high school academics. Banneker has amazing PARCC scores. I would put Banneker and Walls tied at #1.

BASIS is not an option for high school unless you are already a student. No one is as admitted as a new student past 6th grade I believe.


Washington Latin only took ~10 at 9th last year. So nearly impossible to get into.

I think your focus should be what school is the best fit for your child. Go to open houses, ask other parents you know who have kids in HS, search these threads for the numerous posts discussing HS's.
