I agree with the OP's statement. Norton got elected to Congress despite years of having failed to pay taxes. She's been ineffective for years on the Hill, but most people in DC's political class don't want to point out that our little empress has no clothes.

No. I have been calling the Chairs and ranking members and sometimes regular R members of committees (e.g. HELP for Betsy DeVoss/Education, Judiciary for Jeff Sessions/Attorney General). Sometimes they don't ask where you live, and when they do I explain that I'm from DC and don't have voting representation in Congress.

It's all so maddening and to have no recourse is that much worse. Ugh.

OP, I would fight for DC statehood. The Republicans are already trying to change our laws. This is a way to oppose Congress, Trump, and their interference in the city's decisions. They sure wouldn't impose this crap on their own constituents.

That's what I am doing --> Start a chain that might get friends of friends involved, even if you only have friends in Blue States, they might have friends in purple states.

I live in DC. I keep reading advice on how to oppose Trump, his policies, and his nominees and it all tells me to call my Congressman. I don't think I'm going to feel productive if I call Eleanor Holmes Norton. Can I call Congressman from other districts or is that unproductive, too? It irks me that I don't really have anyone to call!! What do other people in DC do?
