I've seen and experienced this. Mostly it's with women who have not been around other minorities much before in their lives so they don't know exactly what to expect.

They've been exposed to black women and often times latina women but not always Asian women so the interaction towards them is different. It's odd for this area though.

Try to break the ice a bit by complimenting an outfit or asking for recipe if they bring in something that tasted good or discussing a best seller book or a popular TV show. Sometimes, people simply go by stereotypes and you need to show them that you're human too and that there is likely some common ground if they try to get to know you.

It sucks, but I grew up in the South in a very you're either Black or White community and trying to "humanize" myself as much as possible in their eyes was my coping mechanism.

Op are you an introvert? Do you enjoy socializing with others? Are you timid? Do you take the initiative to get to know your co-workers? I ask because I'm AA and I've worked with many white women and I don't have this problem. Then again I'm a social butterfly extrovert and it's easy for me to make friends.

AA as in African American^^^^

I haven't had that issue. I'm AA. honestly,I have the biggest issue with other AA's at work

I'm an American of South Asian origin, and quite a bit older at 50 and haven't really felt like this. I'm very outgoing however. I think there are always some cliques, etc. but that isn't always based on ethnic origin. Sometimes it is the age of the coworker or many other factors.

AA female here, and yes I have felt this way. I do fit in well at work, but notice that those relationship don't extend beyond the workplace.

Another AA no issue. I'm a pretty outgoing person though.

Mid-30's south asian female gov't employee here. Definitely feel like I'm not one of the group, but then again, I'm fairly introverted.

As an African-American woman I have not experienced this. I have worked with all white professional women and have been part of the team and I am still friends with some former co-workers.
