We switched from VZ to t-mobile 3 months ago and couldn't be happier. A lot more for a lot less. Coverage in and around DC is actually very, very good.

AT&T has an app that you can report outages, which I know is pointless to you now, but it may help others reading this thread. I have used it countless times (usually in towns in the middle of no where, or coverage is great outside and not inside).

I switched from Verizon to Ting. We added a phone and still pay a lot less. The coverage is not flawless but the customer service has been very good and it's a lot cheaper.

I have T-Mobile with 3GB and free streaming + YouTube. FIOS at home. Each is $60/month.

Verizon is the only way to go.

Just changed from Verizon to TMobile for a family plan. MISTAKE. Coverage is actually fine but customer service is a nightmare. It is a good deal but not worth it.

I bought an iphone 6 on ebay (less expensive upfront cost than buying it from verizon or apple). Verizon just came out with a new plan that is $55 for 5GB of data. Unused data rolls over until the end of the next month. You may also be entitled to an employer discount. Check on that.

I have found that Verizon is the devil you know. Best to stick with them.

I've found I have to stick to Verizon, only reliable coverage where I live and still doesn't work in the house all the time.

My friends with other carriers come over and can't get a signal at all.

What are your existing phones? Different people have different ideas of "need" and "new".

I bought a new unlocked galaxy 6s for about $320. I use tracfone for about $110/year.
