Man here. My first GF was summer of senior year. Her boyfriend left for school out of state and I moved right in. She and I knew we were going to schools far distant from each other, so the summer was going to be it. All it really took was proximity. I was with her every day, and I made my move.

Real question is why inna hell is he asking his MOM for advice on this? Where is dad? Tell the boy, from me, that he should NEVER NEVER NEVER listen to female advice about women. Even from mom! With the best of intentions, mom will give you the worst possible advice.

How do you know why she is dating the other boy? Would your attitude be different if she was not "very cute?" Are YOU in high school?

Cmon, it's a HS, long distance relationship. It's not like they are married or engaged.

It's a great chance for some life lessons for your son. Tell him he needs to get to know her a little better and figure out if he just likes the challenge that she's taken, if he just likes her looks or if there is more to it.

If he decides she is, just be around, be flirty and maybe occasionally, in a flirty/teasing fashion, mention it's a shame she has a boyfriend. If she's interested, she won't have a boyfriend soon enough and she'll let your son know. Their break up does him no good if she has no interest in him.

Very cute girl. Her boyfriend is a year older, away at a college that's over six hours away from D.C. (If you want me to be honest, she's only dating the other boy because he's rich. Not a good looking kid.) She's headed to a different college, which will put them in different states, still several hours apart. So, the relationship obviously isn't going to last past this summer.
