I'm 12:21 and 13:45 in this thread, AND I'm the poster whose kid completely failed. This OP started her thread first and it actually prompted me to ask about my own miserable situation. I appreciate the ability to express my concerns, and feedback on my thread was very helpful to me. And I'm still really happy for OP's kid here.

Because people in the relationship forum post about serious relationship troubles, no one should post about some happiness or funny situation in their relationship because it's tone-deaf?

I disagree. I think people can post joys and sorrows. They can ask for help and they can ask for comfort. There's room for it all.

Not to mention, that score is meaningless if she doesn't have the grades, teacher recs, personality,added skills and interests, and connections to go along with it.

Based on where she posted, this mom has more than likely been supporting her child through applying to private schools. It is possible the child's dream school is one that gets lots of applications and the chances of gaining admission are low. Like many parents, when this mom sees something that can help her child get what she wants, or needs, she's happy about it. Being aware that many of her friends and family are in a similar situation with their children, she may want to share her happiness in a way that's unlikely to hurt anyone.

I have had three children who took the SSAT for high school admissions. None of them prepared in advance for the exam. One had an overall score in the 98th percentile, another in the 99th (99th in all sections), and the most recent in the 89th. I was proud of all of them.

Congrats! That's a great score. Just checked my daughter's scores and she did similarly well. I was very happy because last year she was not very consistent with her scores, but this year, every section was within 2 percentile points of each other.

My daughter took the SSAT two weeks ago and we just received the test scores. No test prep other than a few looks at the test and scored overall 94%. Yay!
