It's OK to react as you did but let it go immediately. There are a lot of idiots on the internet.

Op hang in there, the online dating world can be cruel. They are some nice men on there too. Don't forget to take advantage of the delete and block features. Yes, you will read some very stupid messages, anticipate and be prepared to just delete and block.

ALMOST cried. I think that may be an exaggeration, but the point is, especially when someone is pointing out that they dislike you because of your race - something you can't control - it makes the rejection that much harder... All of a sudden, you start thinking what if everyone thinks this way... i'll be alone forever!

You almost cried? Over that? Yes. You are far too sensitive for online dating.

I agree with your title--if you almost cried over that interaction, online dating is not for you.

Wait, so he contacted you first, then said he wasn't attracted to women of your nationality?

Well obviously he was attracted to you or else he wouldn't have contacted you in the first place! He's just a jackass. Ignore him and move on. As a woman, tons of men will be interested in you.

You have to have a really thick skin for online dating. People basically shop around trying to get the best deal they can- they will string you along until something better comes along. Assume most people on there are jerks, try not to take it personally, and just have fun!

He responded by asking if I was from x country, my answer was " I am from Y, and you?", his response: "I clearly indicated in my profile that I was (insert nationality here) and I am not attracted to (insert nationality)"

I thought his response was very rude to the point I almost cried. Being told I'm not a match is fine, but I thought him explicitly mentioning the nationality was rude. I felt insulted! Did I overreact? I know he's just a guy from the internet and I'll move on from this experience.

Don't take it personally. People are rude and that is never a reflection of you. Keep dating online, and looking for love! I wish you luck in your search and don't let angry, rude people get in the way of what you want!

OP, there are some rude men out there. I encountered some while dating online. You need to remind yourself that these folks do not know you, and whatever thing they say that is nasty, says more about them then it does about you- they did you a favor by showing you their true colors early.
