Not sure why people are slamming you when you are just being honest. We can all agree that GDS, Sidwell, and Maret are extremely rigorous academically - not to mention really hard to get into. then you are some of the easier private such as Bullis and Maret. I'm thinking St.A holds the hand more. Not sure of the St.A crowd but the Bullis crowd can be a bit much unless you fit right in. There is a ton of showy money and the whole poor ax scene isn't appealing to me.

Almost any student would find many opportunities to grow academically, socially, athletically, and in many other ways at either school, but their personalities and strengths are different. The best way to gather dependable data on how well either school would fit a particular student is to look at Web sites, contact and then visit the schools, and ask questions of those whose children are enrolled. It's hard to believe that anonymous postings will provide more reliable information.

i cringe every time parents drop the Big 3. The elitist attitude at some of these schools is the exact reasons we declined our acceptance letter.

Having grown up in a working class family living between two low income housing projects, that is very much how my friends and family used to talk about all private secondary school kids. What you think of as some huge difference between some private schools and others, we would have thought was like figuring out which wasp was most likely to sting you in the backyard on a hot summer day.

Would you like me to pass your kind words about my child -- who attended St. Andrew's -- on to him? Please post your name and other information allowing us to contact you to verify your identity. I am sure all the St. Andrew's graduates who are doing well at great colleges -- and I am sure all the Bullis students like that as well -- will want to learn more from you. After all, our kids "aren't particularly smart" so who better to tutor them? And besides, think of all that money I would save by not paying any more Ivy League tuition bills! Gee, thanks.

That's just sad. Either you're a child who needs to go to bed, or a parent who needs to grow up. Either way, just sad.

Both schools are very good. The question isn't which school has better academics. You should ask which school's academics fit your child's wants/needs/style. Everyone is different, and many of these schools teach things differently. And, most importantly, they can't be all things to all people, so prepare to get ignorant comments like the one above.

My kids checked out both schools, but Bullis was more their style. They are happy and excelling; taking classes I only dreamed about; and, looking at top tier colleges. It works for them. Just find the one that works for your kid.

Why don't you see where the graduates go are Bullis kids and St A kids getting into the same colleges? Does your child play sports - then Bullis

they are both either on par with churchill or below, and far below that of a sidwell, gds, maret, ncs etc

The two schools had a totally different feel to me. We had a horrible visit at Bullis last year. The admissions person who gave us our tour was incredibly rude and acted unprofessionally. When we walked around, the kids seems disengaged and completely disinterested in their teachers, and did not acknowledge our presence. St. Andrew's visit this year was completely different. The school was warm and inviting, and the students appeared to be completely engaged and actually greeted us while we walked around. Academically, I got the feeling that St. Andrew's was stronger.

The public down the street is Churchill so it's not as good .

OP: Please make an appointment and go see Bullis for yourself. It's a great school with amazing opportunities for kids.

Bullis has a reputation for being the same as the local public down the road
