After the lottery ended last year, we got on the waitlists for PK3 Langley OOB and Friendship Armstrong (we didn't put either on our original lottery list because I didn't know much about Langley and I didn't know anything about Friendship Armstrong). We started at Friendship Armstrong and are very happy. We were offered a spot at Langley in September but didn't think it was desirable to switch since the school year had already started and we were happy at Friendship. If we'd gotten a spot at Langley before the year started, we probably would have taken it as I know and like many neighborhood families who attended for PK3. A few of them didn't love it, but most are happy with it. Honestly, I'd say your kid will probably be fine at Langley or Friendship Armstrong -- I'd put them both near the bottom of your list and rank them in order of convenience. We'll stay at Friendship for PK4 unless we get into one of the HRCS that we were 100+ on the waitlist for last year. HTH.

Thanks for the info on Friendship. Have also heard positive things about Langley.

I have not been yet. We know several people having a good experience for preschool at Langley, so I will probably rank it above Armstrong for that reason, even though it's a bit less convenient.

Thanks, PP. That is my understanding, IB everyone gets in and OOB it just depends on if there is space. I'm glad you liked it. We will definitely rank it above our IB Walker-Jones. How do you think it compares to Friendship Armstrong on P st?

I attended. The principal seems to think that with the early action (I think that is what it's called) all the inbound kids who lottery will get in. I got the sense there will be room for OOB. We are IB for what it's worth. As far as the school goes it is big but old. The facilities are decent for a city school (a real cafeteria, 2 playgrounds, indoor gym). I was very impressed with the principal and Assistant principal. We saw PK 3, 4 and K classes in action. The kids in PK 3 were playing "supermarket " with the teacher, the PK4 kids were writing letters on a white board and the K class was talking about a poem. In all the classes the kids seemed very obedient and followed instructions. I was pleasantly surprised given its a struggle to focus my 2 yr old (the power of peer pressure). They are switching to Creative Cirriculum next year. The PK/K is on the first floor and the littlest are kept separate form the older kids. Security was tight (doors locked, check in desk). If you can, I encourage you to see for yourself. They have another open house Feb. 7. Please excuse my typos - I'm on an iPhone.
