Not OP but when you say 6% back on groceries up to $6k per year, does that mean the most I get back on groceries will be $360? I probably spend $12k+ on groceries per year so I'd cap that one out halfway through. That fee is really steep, too. That's the number one reason I have never had an AmEx card. There are so many rewards cards that don't charge a fee, does this one really make it worth it?

We also use this card exclusively for groceries and gas.
They have great deals for random places, which you have to add to the card via the website, and we try to monitor those for places we frequent and use them too (they have 20% cash back at Clyde's sometimes, for example).
We use the Amazon Store Card for Amazon credit only for those purchases. And we use the Target card for %5 only at Target.
Likewise. We use the Amex card for groceries and gas and the CitiVisa Preferred card for everything else.

This is my favored card, too. Of course this depends on your spending habits, but for us 2% on everything comes out way ahead of the more complicated formulas that give something like 6% on groceries, 3% on gas, and 1% on "other." Most of our spending is in the "other" category, so we're better off with 2% on everything. YMMV.

Rumor has it that it's the citi double cash, but I've loved my discover card forever too. They do 5% every once in awhile and usually on stuff I buy anyway at certain time of the year. Can apply the cash back to my amazon purchases and can get cash back up to $80 from grocery stores.

I got this card last year and it's great. Be aware that in order to get the full 2%, do not take the rebates as statement credits, rather have them direct deposited to your checking account.

Even better, it gives me the option to apply my rewards to my Amazon account so I can just use it on my next purchase. (They will also send you a check if you'd rather put that money in the bank.) I love going to buy printer ink or whatever, and getting it for free because of the rewards.
