We do OBX or the Cape. Prices do drop at the end of August, but your budget may be tough.

So how big of a place do you want with all those people you think will visit and are you expecting them to pay for their share if you rent, for example, a place that sleeps 8 which will def cost close to 2k (although that totally depends on where you go).

Def get ocean front or really close to it. Makes a big difference when schlepping beach gear + 2 kids. Plus, it's easy to return to the house for naps, bathroom, extra snacks, forgotten items, etc.
We did the beach with a 6 mo old and 2, and 4 yr old and loved having the convenience if walking in/walking out.

Dh Google satellite the beach house to see exactly how far the house was from the beach bc you have to be careful with terms like "beach view" and "beach front".

$2k a week will be really hard to do at the Delmarva (Bethany, Rehoboth, Ocean City) beaches. You might be able to find it in North Carolina. It's hurricane season though.

What about Caribbean locations with quick non-stop flights? Or Charleston?

Good options on Cape Cod, but $2k/week won't get you beach. We spent $2k/week a decade ago (now we own) and usually had a nice little ranch house a couple of miles from the beach. September may be less expensive.

You can do that because first week of September rates will drop. North Georgia -St Simon's is nice, as is St Augustine Florida, but a long drive. People love the Outer Banks but I am done with North Carolina as a state because of politics.

I am partial to Martha's Vineyard and if you are used to west coast water, it won't seen cold to you and that is the warmest the water will be all season!

Under $2k a week might be tough to find if you expect oceanfront. Or did you mean $2k total for two weeks? If the latter, then maybe a one bedroom condo bayside at sea colony.

I love St. Simons Island in Georgia.
The beaches are quiet that time of year, most of Georgia is back in school by then.
