To the 1st responder - it's great that people are deciding to get in shape. But perhaps some of them could make that decision in February instead, or in March, or April? Do they all have to make that same cliche decision every year on 1/02? (not on 1/01, because you know, hangovers and football.)
Because the rest of us are trying to go about our business, the same stuff we do EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR because we know this stuff is a marathon, not a sprint. We know that good habits are made by doing them over and over again, not for 3 weeks in January. It gets tiresome when a ton of people who don't really know gym etiquette flood in there, make it hard for everyone to get in a workout, and then disappear after 3 weeks, not to be seen again till next year.
at the very least, some of the newbies could put down their damn cell phones once in awhile. It's frustrating to try to use the single machine of its kind in the entire gym when you've got some clueless person "resting" for 20 minutes between sets while they play on their phone. They could also arrive at a crowded yoga class a few minutes early instead of sauntering in 15-minutes late and expecting everyone to somehow make room.
I don't think you need a physical workout; you need some spiritual and psychological healing.
