It's very annoying. My own parents, my brother, and just about everyone in DH's family "forget." I just had a book published is November, name prominently on the cover, sent copies to everyone, and still they sent Christmas stuff to "Larlo and Larla Lastname." Clearly, there's a whole lot of passive-aggressive going on.

That's annoying, but the same thing happened to me with wedding checks, and the bank had no problem. If you have a joint account with your husband's name on it, or if he has an account in just his name, you should be fine.

I won't even touch you making a mountain out of a molehill with the rest of what you wrote but the checks are a nonissue as they are still usable.

Have you even tried OP? This is truly not the big deal you are making it out to be.

I'm sorry, but given that the majority of women still mindlessly give up their names, I don't think keeping your own name makes you a follower. Sorry the thought threatens you though.

Second the mountain out of a molehill. Stop trying to be offended. And yes, you can cash those checks.

I never changed my name, I don't mind that some family members either don't remember or prefer to use my husband's, and I have never had problems cashing checks.

You can cash the checks.

Im pretty sure a random Aunt who speaks to you once a year probably barely remembers your first name or your last.

I don't even remember the name of the third kid my good friend just had. Shit happens when you get old. Relax, not personal.

My own family purposefully forgets I didn't change my name. Never had a problem depositing a check.

Joint or husband's account. My husband's father after 15 years still calls me by the wrong first name. I long gave up on the last name concern.

My bank cashes checks with my husband's last name on them. Have you ever tried?

Several members of DH's family (grandparents, aunts/uncles) either don't know or don't remember that I kept my last name. I kept my maiden name on Facebook and they are all active users, but I digress. The past few years they have sent checks (which we are grateful for) around the holidays addressed to "Larlo and Larla Smith". Given that this is not my name, I can't do anything with these checks. We thank them and have never mentioned the name thing, but it's frustrating as a) I'd like to be addressed by my name and b) I manage our finances but can't cash the checks. Can I/he/we say anything?
