My son is sensitive to movies, age 10 and was ok. Although he has asked about the deaths several times and we have explained the deaths were needed for the story. I would say he actually liked it ether than the force awakens.

My Inlaws took my 6 and 9 year old. MIL and 6 year old left halfway thru. 9 yr old liked it but had the same reaction... "Everyone died."

The previews apparently were horrible violent and scary and my MIL was horrified.

I took my 7 and 10 year old to Rogue One thinking it was like the last Star Wars movie and it definitely is not. Towards the end my 10 year old looked at me and said "everyone in the trailer just died". Fortunately, my 7 year old fell asleep early.

It is sad but it is essentially a war film wrapped in Star Wars paper. The last half of the film ( which was excellent!) reminded me of a Vietnam War movie. No blood but very battle heavy. My ids are 8 and 11 and are diehard Star Wars fans and loved it but definitely walked out much more talking about the sacrifices made than about light saber battles ( although they talked non stop about that once we got to the car!) I wouldn't take a 6 year old.


This is good to know. We waited until 10 to show him the original Star Wars. He loves the characters, lightsabers, the cartoon spin offs, but the movies/cartoons have a lot of character development and other action other than the more climatic battle moments.

AFI is playing " A Muppet's Christmas" today at noon and 4:45pm. They may also like Hidden figures too which is out tomorrow.

At the American film institute in Silver Spring they are showing a Muppet's movie but, double check that. I know they play It's a wonderful Life every year. Check out their website. If you have never been it is a wonderful old theater which has been fixed up. Audiences are very respectful and the food is so much better than the regular stuff you get.

What are other good kid friendly movies that are out now. The kids are not into Star Wars and don't care for Harry Potter. I'm at a loss and looking for suggestions.
