I address ALL cards the same way:

Bob Jones (single people)
Mr and Mrs. Bob Jones or Bob and Leslie Jones (married folks, depending on their preference)

If they have kids, it is:

The Jones Family

As a pp said, I don't care if you have one kid or seven - you are going to be The Jones Family in excel and on these Christmas cards. I have two children, and have yet to receive anything address to all of us individually. Things are ALWAYS addressed to The Jones Family.

OP, you may have other issues with your B/SIL, but don't make this one of them. This is just an expedient way to get holiday cards out. I am 100% certain they are treating every equally on this one.

I lived with my much younger cousins for a couple of years, and I still cannot spell the youngest one's name correctly.

It's a name with several correct spellings and I have to check a particular e-mail I sent to myself with the correct spelling.

If I had to sign several cards at the same time, and was getting exhausted, I can see how I will just put my aunt and uncle's name and family to avoid going through the trouble of finding the correct spelling.

It does not mean that I do not love my cousin enough. Christmas season is just a messy time with so much to do.

This does not seem like a big deal at all. Are you actually upset over how a card you receive once a year is addressed? I think the background you alluded to is important here - do you ever talk to these relatives besides exchanging Christmas cards?

If you do, I assume they do know your child's name but use "and family" for everyone with kids because it's simpler when addressing many Xmas cards. If an annual card is the only interaction you ever have, then sure, maybe they don't know your kid's name, but why do you care, since they are more like distant acquaintances than family?

If they call her by name in social situations and you are upset that she doesn't get mentioned by name on the holiday card address label, you are being way too sensitive.

But this is their niece and they are printing out the labels on computer. There's no signing of any kind involved.

I always use "& family". While I know everyone's kids, spelling the names correctly and writing each one out is time consuming. I keep the format the same whether you have one kid or seven.

I'm a mom to an only, and something like this would give me pause. Stuff is usually addressed to all three of us by name, "and family" just doesn't make much sense in this context.

As you might guess there is background here but I'll just put this out here.

We have an only child. Every year we get a holiday card from B/SIL which is addressed to:

Larla and Larlo Jones-Smith and Family. (This is on a print out label, not handwritten)

They don't seem to know our child's name.

Nothing inside the card, it's not signed.

I just feel like they don't know my kid's name at this point.
