Trying for about 10 mos. insurance doesn't cover ivf

So sorry OP. I agree with the PP's who say day 3 bloodwork doesn't have to be day 3. As long as your hormone levels are still low, it can be later. they just want to make sure you're clear to start.

How many months have you been trying (your kid is 2.5, how long have you been trying for #2?). I also agree with the PP's not to waste too much time on IUI.

Sorry, OP. It's not a bad call to take a month off - give yourself a chance to recover physically/emotionally before jumping in again. That being said, I'm sure they could do a day 4 appointment if you pushed. Hope the holidays help distract you from the disappointment.

I have had 2 IVF babies and 2 IVF pregnancies and both times I had menstrual cramps right around my beta

If you have a line on a test and you're having cramps both of those are good signs you get cramps as the embryo implants

After my 3rd IUI, I had what felt exactly like menstrual cramps, so I cried it out (again) and went in for my bloodwork. AF never came and now I'm almost 6 months along.

Also...if you saw a faint line, yes, you're pregnant. A line is a line. PMS symptoms, or "feeling your period coming" can also be signs of early pregnancy. They can also come from progesterone support, if you are currently using progesterone. Wait on that beta before ruling yourself out, and good luck!

OP, day 3 testing doesn't have to be done on day 3. It is baseline testing before starting another medicated cycle, and I had it done at SG on day 2, day 3, and day 4. In fact, for one IUI cycle I had (with Clomid), I was told that I could have gotten the testing done on day 5 and started meds that night, if absolutely necessary. I had to juggle 6 rounds of IUI with frequent work travel, and I'd wager only 3 of those rounds was I actually in for "day 3" testing on day 3.

(1) You may be pregnant or having a chemical, in which case your cycle will be delayed. A faint line is a line, and cramps are normal with both pregnancy and a chemical.

(2) They can probably push the testing one day if you push back to them about it. It really shouldn't be a big deal. I've done 10+ IUI/IVF cycles and am pretty sure I didn't always make it on day 3, as opposed to day 2 or day 4.

(3) It might just be easier to skip a cycle. It is hard to do when you're in the thick of things, but I see no reason to stress yourself out over travel, etc. All of the stress isn't going to help any next cycle you need to work.

(4) If the first IUI didn't work, you probably need to work on relaxing into the process a bit. IUIs don't have great odds, so you need to find ways to keep calm as you go through things.

Why bc that's easier or it might just be a relief and help my chances? I sucks...doctor says nothing is wrong with me or my hubby and our 2.5 year old was conceived naturally without problem. (I'm 36)

No i'm not pregnant-- i don't believe that faint line. I feel my period coming. Where did you get that idea from? I'm pretty sure i have to get another IUI cycle done. Today's bloodwork was to confirm pregnancy or not. Are you Santa bringing me a gift?

Um you are pregnant. Why are you worrying about next cycle?

I have low confidence that the last cycle worked. I did an at home test and saw the faintest line the other day to indicate positive, but I also felt pre-menstrual cramps the other day. (Maybe I am overanalyzing, but I am sure getting to know my body pretty well through this process.) I guess my bloodwork today will be the final say.

I worked out a tentative guessing timeline of how next cycle would line up and I am worried since I will be out of town for the holidays and not returning until the evening of 12/27. If my guess is right about my day 3 cycle testing this would need to be on 12/26 when I am out of town in NY state (near West Point).


Shady Grove told me today when I came in for my bloodwork (to determine pregnancy or not) that if I couldn't get day 3 testing done I would have to skip the upcoming cycle. WTF?! Merry Xmas!

Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? How did you approach it?
