I can see online that Langley just got the guaranteed IB early action preschool, so they may add a third preschool classroom. So I would think it'll be a good year there for OOB admits too.

DCPS teacher here! As far as I know, most schools don't really track this data formally because selection from the lottery isn't done by schools. I was asked about this several times at EdFest, and our AP said that chances schools have formal data on IB/OOB with sibling/etc. is slim. The best bet would be to check with individual schools, but as other posters have said, it really varies from year to year.

OP, you need to understand that the schools themselves don't know. They can try to forecast it, but it is just how many IB students get in, and then siblings of OOB students in the upper grades would have preference too, so there are a lot of variables. They don't set aside a specific number of spots for OOB. It just happens if it happens. I know for a fact that Seaton and Cleveland took OOB PK3 students last year, so you might get in. Or not. Have you considered Langley? I think that is in the sweet spot this year-- on the rise, but still a solid chance of getting in.

This is 2 years ago, but I got off the waitlist for Seaton and Garrison but never got off the waitlist for Thomson. Looking at the MyschoolsDC data, it looks like your chances at Thomson are pretty slim. They only went through #6 on their waitlist for PK3. So it's pretty consistent with my lottery experience.

Based purely on what I've heard from friends, the only school you have a shot at in that list is Garrison. They seem to move through their list fairly quickly. But realistically, your IB school is the only place where you have a good chance of getting in.

On myschooldc under resources click on data. That will tell you how far a school went into its wait list (it isn't perfect as it isn't have post lottery applicants). But it doesn't distinguish between IB and OOB.

First, figure out how many PS3 classes there will be at each school. Then start trying to gauge IB vs. OOB interest. And yes, knowing how far down they went on the waitlist is helpful.

They can estimate, but it's just an estimate. No one knows how many siblings or IB kids there will be in a given year. MySchoolDC doesn't even publicly share that data after the lottery.

I don't think they initially offer a set number of IB and OOB spots. They just offer a set number of spots and the lottery applicants get them in order of IB and OOB and other preferences. If you are trying to assess your chances of getting in OOB, the question is how many waitlist offers were made to OOB students. Is that what you mean?

I don't think that is available. I know that OOB students got into Seaton in the original lottery last year, not sure if it will be true this year.

It isn't published. You need to get it from the individual school administrators or hope someone here has a sense.
