All I can say is Prince Harry is HOT! If the Brits don't want him, he can stop by my house any time he wants.

I have 3 kids with auburn hair.

My oldest, a 10th grade boy, has said stuff in passing about people calling him a ginger, but it has all been complimentary.

Younger two have never mentioned it.

Might the reason the Brits make fun of redheads have something to do with the way they used to treat the Irish?

I went to Catholic school and the family of redheads were the most popular, beautiful kids in high school.

My DH is British, and ginger mocking is definitely a "thing" in the UK.

Both of my sons have auburn (ginger) hair and went to private schools here from nursery school through 12th grade and NO ONE EVER MADE FUN of their hair color. Quite the contrary---they were complimented about it.

The only reason I know this might be a thing, somewhere, is South Park.

And perhaps FB with reverse posts like, "Things that Make Red Heads Spunky and Wonderful."

What???

Not the pp but, yes, bullying gingers is a common problem in the UK. I have never, ever heard of there being a problem here in the US. Every red-headed person I knew in school was beautiful and popular, including the boys.

Just based on my limited experience, parents of red-headed children are rather unsufferable about how "special" their snowflake is. That said, i know that kids motice but am not sure there is a culture of teasing red-headed children.

We have strawberry haired DS and DD and a beautiful red-haired colleague was shared she was teased in middle and high school. She used teased, said it was just normal private kid stuff. I'd honestly characterize it as relentless bullying. Is this common at every private? She made it seem so. She attended all girls Catholic schools.
