I'm a remarried former spouse of a USAA member, who still has USAA. Although my ex was a child of military, so maybe it works differently? I had to call and ask a few people, but they decided I could stay.

My husband's ex kept her USAA. She isn't remarried but living with another retired military member. I don't think my husband had to approve it or anything (he would have). I know he had to call or do something for one of the kids, but that was about it and they got it.

I have travelers home and geico car
I shopped around once for better prices, wasn't sure it was worth the hassle

If you have a military affiliation I would go with Navy Federal Credit. If not then try NorthWest Federal Credit Union. If all else fails go wit GEICO

We have USAA membership through our veteran dads. Do you have some other relative you can use?

erie is pretty good for auto. amica too, although sometimes more expensive. umbrella get from either your auto or your home insurer, life you should get a 20 or 30 year level term policy from a decent company -- not shop every few years.

If you are a member now add a different type of service in your name so that you remain a usaa member (credit card, bank account, etc) regardless of a divorce or loss of auto coverage.

With enough accidents or even one they do kick people out. Had it happen to friends.

Are you sure? Once a member, always (allowed to be) a member, has been my experience.

Why not? USAA doesn't kick you out.
