Considering the terrible outfits most college kids wear, a uniform sounds really nice.

Do worked in the public safety department when I was in School and we were told specifically not to wear our uniforms to class because it could cause problems ranging from being a target of some kind to students or professors wanting us to fix their tickets etc. It's not that hard to bring a spare shirt to change into in order to avoid problems.

Why do you say that last part?

Well, maybe if the police would stop shooting unarmed citizens AND getting away with it, people would stop being afraid of police.

I wouldn't have complained, but I'd be uncomfortable. And I'm white - not even someone who has EVER been approached by police for any reason at all.

I disagree! My son could very well stop a school shooting. He is a battle trained Army Airborne Ranger and Expert Marksman. He is calm and cool. Nothing rattles him. He has a conceal carry with special permission from his school to carry on campus. You want him to have a gun on campus.

Is that what the issue was?

I doubt that you would ever find anyone more liberal than me, but I have no idea what could have been wrong with him attending class in uniform. Ridiculous.

This is a question?

Of course it's ok. When I worked at another university it happened all the time.

Rich kids may have never been around a police officer or military so may have no idea how to act.

I had military and police in class both college and law school. Just keep the from happy hour. Drinking and gunning don't mix. But cops and military who go to class are pretty responsible.

It's a little funny to me. My DH is Fed Law Enforcement and almost always armed. My brother is a Detective. Again, pretty much always armed unless he is exercising. Both of my older sons are military with conceal carry permits. They carry at least 75% of the time.

No one has any clue because they are not in uniform. I'm so glad the good guys have guns.

I'm not sure how the student didn't realize that the armed classmate was a police officer, since he was wearing his uniform. LOL. College students are stupid sometimes. Anyway, I think it's fine for him to attend in uniform, and it sounds like the university agrees.

Apparently this became a issue on at least one campus (Loyola University) recently:

How would you feel if this happened to you or your child?

Do you ever remember a situation like this from your own college days? If so, was it police or military?
