How long have you been dating? While asking "are you gay" might be a little awkward, perhaps you can find a way to bring up past relationships, etc in a slightly less awkward way?

Also, in absence of the ring would you still question his sexuality? And finally, have you just asked him?

If he's 38 and got it pierced in college, it was likely done by a random piercer who didn't think to ask what he'd be licking with it. I had a FWB who had his tongue pierced twice down the middle. It was amazing and he was most certainly not gay.

The piercing is middle to back ish. Absence of the tongue situation, I would question it a little. Haven't asked him. How do you come out and just say "Are you gay?" to someone??

PP

If you have to ask if he's gay, he probably is.

38 and never married.

75% of his friends are gay.

Has a pierced tongue (very unusual for a male).

Is he gay? The pierced tongue alone doesn't say much, but put all three together the odds are he's gay. Or possibly "bi" that leans gay.

I'm a 38 year old straight female who had her tongue pierced up until last year when I finally took it out. (My dentist convinced me.) I don't really see what the piercing has to do with being gay. I had always been told that it was good for oral sex on either sex.

To the OP- I haven't heard of that as a sign for a gay person in particular. Guys and girls have tongue piercings for different reasons, personality, to be different and for sexual pleasure. Part of me (I won't say which part) is thinking that you need to take his tongue for a test drive. If he's good with it on you, a female...MAYBE that' why he has it. It doesn't indicate that he has it because he is gay. However, if you are stating that 75% of his friends are gay men, THAT along with other things might make me wonder. It would be helpful to know what other factors are making you think he maybe gay or bi. Have you slept with him? Is he comfortable in bed or kinda awkward? That could be a sign to look for.

Good luck!

I just started to date a guy. He hasn't said anything, but I have a strange feeling that he may be gay or bi based on his behavior, things he has told me and (as I have been meeting more of his friends) 75% of his friends are gay men.

He has a pierced tongue. I asked him why (I don't come across many if any professional men of this age with a pierce tongue) and he said he got it in his crazy college days and has kept it because it comes in handy.

Is this a sign of a gay man? What signs should I watch for? I don't want to naively be his beard.

Please note, he is 38 years old, never married.
