Just make sure the exfoliating ingredient isn't those plastic micro beads--they end up in the oceans and cause turtles to starve to death b/c they eat them vs. the actual food that they need.
Make sure it's not a physical exfoliant of any kind--that actually irritates the skin. Use a cleanser with salicylic acid, like Neutrogena's Acne Wash. Don't scrub too hard. Boil water, turn off the heat, and have him hold his face over the pot with a towel tented over his head to keep the steam in.
