We our at the high school level and raised over 50k... But the ranking is so elitist. Carry on.

I hope there's a follow-up where we learn OP's IB school and where her child ends up.

You can typically find the PTA or whatever it's called different schools' budgets on their web sites. There are not going to be comparable apples-to-apples - but a general sense.

http://www.lafayettehsa.org/about-the-hsa/budget-activities/

The associations at different schools have different priorities and goals and things they pay for or need to pay for. (The Title I schools often have different needs that I would argue match having the higher per pupil resources... vs. it being the 'fair share'... but that's politics I guess. I wish all schools could get more per student).

It is a ridiculous way to rank schools vs. scores, culture, commutes, etc.

There is also the question regarding what the money is used for - and how is DCPS allocating $$. If you look at the formulas - many WOTP schools do not get their "fair share" so the PTAs need to make up the gaps.

Politically, WOTP has no power to get the money that is supposed to go to it. The city council has played with allocations for a few years to tilt the coffers.

So when you look at how much the schools raise - you need to understand what the per pupil allocation was as well.

If this is your actual criteria, just rank the schools based on the number (or percent) of students who are economically disadvantaged. It's basically the same thing.

That's a pretty silly way to rank schools. Basically all the WOTP schools raise a lot. you Mann does raise the most and ask for the most by far for PTA dues esp. when you look per child- but also has aides in every classroom that it pays for and some other stuff that it pays for. It is about 85% IB, so there are some slots for OOB there. Lafayette and Janney raise a lot - but they are also bigger schools and you probably have less than no chance of getting in OOB since they are so over crowded. Key and Stoddert also raise a lot, but intentionally sets the bar a little lower for their fundraising goals - for instance, intentionally asking less than Mann in PTA dues. Both are around 85% IB - but trending toward less. Basically, the parents at all of these schools are hyper, over involved. So it's a pretty silly 'proxy'.

You should send your kid to LaSalle-Backus. It's the awesomist, don't worry about the rest. You're welcome.

What is your inbound DCPS school OP?

You are not going to get into any of the schools with the highest amount of money raised unless you already live in their boundary (Janney, Lafayette). And any charter with a large amount raised won't be taking more than 1-2 students, at most, at K.

The learndc.org data will give you the levels of students who are economically disadvantaged. Choose the schools that have the least economically disadvantaged students and you will get your SES data.

Why would I get hammered? I have searched MySchoolDC and school websites but cannot find information about money raised. I thought DCUM would have the info.

Which DCPS and DCPCS elementary schools raise the most money. Please name the school and the amount raised last year. I am trying to rank schools on MySchoolDC and would like this information as a proxy for parental involvement + administration effectiveness + SES. TIA for your help. I find this lottery daunting and am seeking knowledge to get norm my list that is not available on MSDC or school websites. We will enroll DS in K.
