I went to a well known NE boarding school, albeit some time ago. Our PGs were almost always strong athletes. In fact they brought them in to bolster the football and basketball teams. They were rarely good students because, had they been, they wouldn't have taken a PG year. That said, it always seemed to be an eye-opening experience for them. It's worth a shot.

Mind sharing where he went to college, or how freshman year grades were in college? As in, did the post-grad year prevent him from C's and D's freshman year?

My DS did a postgrad year at blair academy in NJ. Not the most academically rigorous school but the extra year helped him mature. He enjoyed it for the most part. Was sort of strange partially living among 14 year olds.

I assumed this was just for lacrosse players to get more looks/size...

My friend did a year at St James in Hagerstown. There are limitations on what sports you can play bc they don't want to transform into a postgrad prep like Hargrove or FUMA.

I can't find acceptance percentages or stats they want to see, so I have no clue if my boy is a fit. He needs a year to polish up and mature. And academically, I don't feel he's ready for college. Anyone with experience, please share, I'd appreciate it. He's a varsity athlete, but probably not good enough to play during PG year. Prefer he focus on school, since it will certainly be far tougher than current school.
