Yes your semantics completely invalidates the point that RT 1sucks and tarnishes anything it touchs regardless of the exact positioning. Even the nicer area along fort hunt is dragged down by the influx on it's schools and crime. Huntington is worse. I get it that it might be the best you can afford but don't kid your self and others.

I guess you haven't visited your friend in a while. I suggest you meet for coffee and French pastries at Voila, across from the north entrance of the Metro. You'll see all the new apartment buildings going up. Watch out for the demolition crew at the Penn-Daw shopping center where the Shoppers Warehouse used to be. It's about to become a retail/living space with new restaurants, grocery, coffee shop, etc. Five years ago, duplexes in Jefferson Manor were going for $350K. Now they're up to $440K.

I literally thought about Alabama and West Virginia before I realized you meant the WMATA metro stop. No one ever talks about the yellow line, good or bad. I guess thats because it only has one stop unique to itself.

I rented half a duplex there for a little over a year in 2003. I was on the north side of Huntington Ave. I never once met any of my neighbors, or even saw them outside. Not a single kid came on Halloween. To me, that was weird.
The big advantage was that I could walk to metro. But there's not really anything else to walk to. I felt ok walking back and forth by myself at night because it's a well traveled area (although I never did it alone really late at night).

On the positive side, the schools are better than South Arlington, though. Edison is decent and better than Wakefield.

Have you looked at houses? They're quite small. Arlington Terrace is the street that floods. There's nothing to walk to(except the subway). There are multiple families living in houses.

Seems like one of the few places relatively close in that still has reasonable housing prices and is metro accessible. Do you feel safe? How annoying is the traffic? How are neighbors?
