The officer in charge of their platoon believes that the reduction in security caused by the search for Bergdahl contributed to their deaths.
Staff Sgt. Kurt Curtiss is killed by small arms fire
While attempting to secure a high ranking member of the Taliban believed to be connected to Bergdahl's captors, SSgt. Curtiss was killed.
2nd Lt. Darryn Andrews and Pfc. Matthew Michael Martinek are attacked by an IED and a rocket-propelled grenade
Two members of Bergdahl's company were killed while on patrol in the area he was last seen in. The company was about to be relocated but when Bergdahl went missing their mission in that area was extended. If he hadn't disappeared his company would not have been in the area when this ambush happened.
Staff Sgt. Michael Murphrey is hit by an IED
Possibly the death least related to Bergdahl's disappearance, the same officer believes that the search for Bergdahl in an area that was already especially inhospitable to the Army stoked tensions even higher.
He walked off his FOB. He sent personal belongings home via mail and ranted negatively about the US. Military in letters home, as well.
Because we don't leave our Brothers and Sisters behind, our Military stopped their regular missions and searched for him. At least 6 men lost their lives searching for this POS.
We know all of that. But unless you wrote that yourself, please don't plagiarize.
