Is it normal for a college to request 1st Quarter grades? DC applied EA and the school requested to see 1st Quarter grades for Senior year.

They absolutely do. My DD was deferred EA from a school. It just means that they put you in the regular decision pile (and you won't find out until regular decisions come out). They still aren't sure and want to see your first semester senior year grades. She ended up getting in (and going) but what really sucks is when you are deferred, waitlisted, then rejected. That's just cruel.

I haven't heard of any schools that don't defer in EA.

Deferred means you haven't been accepted or rejected, your app has been moved to the regular decision pile. Deferred decision only occurs in the early rounds(EA or ED).Wait listed means you are on a list to be accepted. You will have to wait till all the accepted students decide if they are coming to that school. As accepted students decline a spot, admissions uses the wait list to allow some kids in. Depending on the school and the year, wait lists can be used heavily or not at all.

This is why people apply to safeties and tell the kids not to invest too much in the dream reachy school.

Schools have different notification dates although many are on or around the 15th. Check the school you applied to for specifics. You will be accepted, deferred or denied. No waitlisting at this stage.

So. What happens? All schools send emails on the 15th with either a thumbs up or down???
