My DH is in the military and has had several temporary relocations that didn't make sense for me to follow him. We used to do skype dates where we'd both watch the same movie or television show (and try our best to get them in sync, but usually I just muted mine and listened to his audio). We'd order Chinese or make popcorn. It was a nice way to keep the weekly date night alive.

Long distance works best if you're both busy with other things in your life. You'll still feel lonely waking up alone on Sunday morning, but you notice the distance less if you have things to do and a routine to your day to day life.

I rather enjoyed my long distance relationship. I was in law school at the time so couldn't be with someone 24/7 anyway. We talked on the phone a lot. There is now FaceTime and Skype. We set regular phone date times, like Sunday or once. Travel pretty regularly if you can afford it.

Do you have an end date in mind?

In our mid 30s and about to start a long distance relationship due to one person moving away for career reasons and the other not being able to make a move right now.
