New head is a woman: Sandy Gillespie. Good to have female leadership at an all girls school.

We are new to Stone Ridge this year. The lower school is joyous! Our daughter comes home every day bubbling with excitement about what she learned or what she did with her peers or older gator sisters. It's diverse--different races and religions.

I understand there is a leap in terms of homework from LS to ms but that's true anywhere.

i have friends who have students in ms and us and say the spirit of sisterhood and friendship is ten times stronger than any competition. If they are feeling competitive it's probably just their nature. Wonder if they are athletes?

Over all, amazing school and happy kids.

The lower school is much smaller and very focused on community and building confidence for young girls. It's a very loving environment with a lot of personal attention. Academics are strong but not at all pressured, most girls could do fine at their own pace. That changes as you get close to high school, each grade has closer to 100 and academically weak students are either not accepted or weeded out as the more academic and sporty girls compete for top college admissions. There is still a lot of community building but it is competitive.

The leap from lower school to middle school is sizable. Lots more independence and rigor but the girls are readt

I am looking for insights on SR lower school. I know they have new head of LS so leadership is new, but I am curious about the curriculum, resources, and rigor compared to MS and Upper School.
