My parents have occasionally had their disagreements but I've also just 'known' they were a team. To the point that they'll gang up on me or my siblings when they want something done (even if I'm in the right). They've been married for thirty-six years and everything they do - they do together. I don't think any marriage is perfect because no human being is perfect, but their union comes close and I hope to one day have something similar.

Don't be so cynical. It exists.

Different for everyone.

Dh and I love each other, function as a team and truly enjoy each other's company. We have a perfect marriage.

What is a perfect marriage? A fantasy. People are flawed. You'd need two perfect people to create perfection.

DH and I are very much in love, maintain strong relationship with each other, parent well together, share goals and priorities, and communicate well about areas of stress if there are any. We are basically still dating each other, despite nearly 10 years together.

Depends on the couple, yes? The South Carolina governor, you remember the one caught 'hiking' the Appalachian Trail with his sexy Argentinian mistress had the perfect marriage. Political success, financial wealth and stability, three beautiful boys. Yet it came out in court that it was a marriage of convenience. His wife knew about his prior APs and gave permission for dalliances, what she apparently objected to was being publicly humiliated. Funny thing. So was their marriage perfect or imperfect?

One where both people are genuinely happy to see and be around each other, where both respect and listen and care about the other, when both are still "trying."

Something other than mine, that's for certain.

What do you think of when you think of the perfect marriage?
