I have the type of family that would buy her tums for Christmas to break the ice. I also have a grandmother that would have laughed and blamed my grandfather. Don't make a big deal out of this. And don't you dare mention her health over it.

So this is an awkward situation, but here goes: We had family over for football and food, and at one point, my husbands 80-something grandmother used the guest bathroom and had a major accident, leaving a mess. She and grandfather promptly left, saying they had a doctors appointment in the AM. The next person to use the bathroom filled us in, and we cleaned up the mess.
We decided to spare their pride and not mention it at all. I am sure they were both terribly embarrassed. But now I'm wondering if we should have said something? Asked if she was ok? We have tried to call her for various small things since then with no response. (And yes, she is alive and well; MIL visits often)
Were we wrong in sparing pride and pretending it didn't happen?
