I'd be seeking advice from an advocate if I were in your situation. Id be worried about the county disenrolling your child or losing the IEP.

Homebound instruction in MCPS is a disaster. They don't have enough teachers and will try to stick with awful online classes. With an IEP they are only bound to provide those services that are critical. So, if your child gets a related service, for instance, he/she may not receive it will homebound. Avoid at all costs. A partial day is possible if that helps. So, if a particular class is the problem, you can remove your DC for the afternoon or morning, as the case may be.

If you want homebound instruction:
Just FYI, a close friend of mine went through this in Fairfax and it was a complete cluster. It takes a long time for the "paperwork" to process-almost two months IIRC that her child was out of school with no education at all, and then the teacher only came 4-5 hours per week, with really random worksheets and there was basically no curriculum at all. The teacher was a retired high school teacher, not a special ed teacher, and her child was an elementary schooler with pretty severe autism.The child's school was supposed to provide material to the homebound teacher and never did.
If you want to homeschool-I would be worried that this would screw up your IEP eligibility somehow.

We like to pull our daughter out of school until the IEP team can agree on new placement for her. Do I just send the IEP team,etc an email letting them know we plan to homeschool until we can agree on new placement?
