i purchase through my bank b/c it is easy.

I know it is more expensive than other services - but the ability to click the button and be done is worth it.

Plus, it's the same company (Harland Clarke) whether I do it through the bank or through Costco.

What you read is not true. You can write a check on anything and the bank has to accept it. Write it on a pair of panties with lipstick. Its a valid check. Banks don't like this because it can't go through the automated clearing system, but they cannot refuse it.

Yeah if my bank doesn't offer free checks forever I'm not using them. I only use about 20 checks a year. As soon as I can get my cleaners to use venmo, PayPal, I'll never have to write a chech again!

I use a lot of checks, because I don't carry cash.

I use checks for the following:
1) tutor
2) therapists
3) cleaning service
4) lawn care
5) doctor co-pays - even though I know they accept credit cards, I try to be cognizant of the fact that its expensive for especially small businesses to process them. So I write checks instead

Is that really an issue? Has anyone else gotten checks from Costco?

Are they "legit"? are you really asking this question?

You think that a major big box retailer would offer a product like this and have it be "not legit"?

Some banks give them to you for free, a certain amount per year.

The only thing that bothers me a little is that my bank's checks have a nice logo on them with the bank name, and my generic checks have the bank name in a generic font. However, they are much cheaper and my bank makes it a PITA to order checks if it has been more than a year since the last order. It probably takes me 2 years or more to go through a batch of checks.

The website above should read https://secure.checksinthemail.com/ if anyone is actually interested.

I've been getting my checks through Costco for years. Nothing to worry about.

Also, they offer high security checks (still cheaper than the bank!) so I'm wondering if I should just spring for those.

I noticed the price is a fraction of what I pay with my bank! But, then I was reading about security issues?
