I had a great experience at Dominion with Dr DiMattina then Peribatal Associates. I had stopped treatment, moved on and got spontaneously pregnant a year later. Dr D called me mom at the 6 week ultrasound. I had another one at 7 weeks then saw Dr. Nies at weeks. I loved all the extra ultrasounds!

I had a similar experience with my RE. I was treated like I was maybe pregnant. Next time I'll be waiting longer for ultrasounds.

I scheduled my OB appointment the day of my ultrasound. But I go to a big practice (GW MFA) and didn't have a preference in the dr I saw for my first appointment.

Was that last ultrasound with the RE?

I had three good betas, then an ultrasound at 6w4d, and another at 8w2d, all with the RE. My first appointment with midwives was just before 10w.

For my next IVF baby I'm going to pee on a stick, take my meds if positive and go in for a normal pregnancy visit at 10-12 weeks.

Is it this?

If it was done purely by recall of the parent, take it with a grain of salt. I have IVF twins, born a year ago, and. I can't remember if I had 3 or 4 first trimester ultrasounds, but I had one every two weeks for cervix checks....for most my pregnancy. If it makes you feel better, say no to any ultrasounds until week 12. And go ahead and make an appointment with your Ob for a 12 week check.

I did my IVF overseas and while it was a piece of cake to do my betas stateside with my local obgyn, they gave me a hard time when I wanted to set up my first u/s at 7 weeks. They said they wanted me to have a HCG of at least 5000 before they'd even let me set up the appointment. I couldn't wait that long because then, by the time I got to 5000, I wouldn't get in with the doctor on time for that 7 week u/s I needed. So they referred me to the radiology imaging offsite. Really?

My ultrasound is scheduled in a week.
I realize that I'm not clinically pregnant until I see the heartbeat. A lot can go wrong but I'm trying to remain positive.
Here's my issue: my ob is difficult to get an appointment with usually.
How many ultrasounds did you have with your RE before you were released to your OB?
When did you schedule your appointment with your OB?

I'm not under the impression anything is more likely to go wrong with an IVF pregnancy. Even if it does, there isn't anything that having an ultrasound does for you. I think it's mainly a money maker.

most OBs won't see you until around 8 weeks. The RE will follow the pregnancy until around 6-7 weeks.

Schedule the OB appointment as soon as you get a positive.

Sorry, typo. The OB appointment was 4 weeks after 6 week scan
