We are considering buying a beach house there--prices are lower than at Bethany but it's just 3-4 miles from the beach. I'm also wondering about the parking situation at the beach--this house is in a community but there's no beach shuttle. Thanks!
We do. Which community are you looking at? Traffic is bad at times during the summer. Parking can be tough depending on where you go. We don't tend to go to Bethany Beach - we buy a state park pass for $70 per year and go to those beaches. Parking is rarely an issue, except at the one between Bethany and Fenwick and Cape Henlopen. But you have a choice of a ton of beaches. Our personal favorite is the unguarded beach just across the Inlet Bridge.

Prices reflect that. Why would you buy a beach house, then drive to the beach?
Because we can get beautiful new construction and a SFH in a nice community for a very reasonable price, which is what we want. We don't want an old, cramped condo within walking distance to the beach. Also we plan to go just as much in the low season as the summer season, such as winter and spring breaks, long weekends all year round, plus a month in the summer, etc.
